Arusha Airport ARK

ARK Airport is among of the 59 airports managed, maintained and operated under Tanzania airports Authority (TAA), the airport is in Group II category. The airport operates as domestic only and it is located western side of Arusha city, approximately 7km (4NM) from Arusha City Centre. Airport is at 4567 feet above mean sea level having an average temperature of 23ᵒC.


There are 2 airports within Arusha Region. Kilimanjaro International airport (IACO HTKL; IATA JRO) which services in and outbound international carriers and international charter flights. Kilimanjaro International connects easily via transfer companies and taxi to Arusha Airport and the city.


The second airport is the Arusha Municipal (ICAO HTAR; IATA ARK) that handles all domestic flights within Tanzania. It is located on the outskirts of the city area. There are shuttles available to travel from the to the city for a minimum cost. It would take approximately 75 minutes to reach ARK airport from the International airport.

Dar es salaam Airport

Julius Nyerere International Airport – (JNIA) is the largest and the busiest International Airport in Tanzania. It is one of the 58 airports and airstrips managed and operated by Tanzania Airport Authority – TAA which is a semi-autonomous government agency that operates, manages, and develops all government owned airports in Tanzania mainland.


Julius Nyerere International Airport (JNIA) is the largest and the busiest International Airport in Tanzania, located in Dar es Salaam, the largest city in Tanzania. Its international code (IATA code) is DAR. This is the one on your luggage labels when you take a flight to Tanzania. The airport is one of the 58 government owned airports and airstrips, operated, developed and managed by Tanzania Airports Authority (TAA). JNIA is about 12 kilometers (7.5 miles) southwest of the city.


The airport was formally known as Dar es Salaam International Airport (DIA) before it was renamed in 2006 in honor of Julius Kambarage Nyerere (photo), the first President of the United Republic of Tanzania who died in 1999. The airport saves flights to and from different destinations including Africa, Europe and the Middle East. Currently there are two terminals, terminal 1 and terminal 2. The government is constructing terminal 3 which will be the largest terminal at JNIA with a capacity of handling up to 6,000,000 passengers annually.


Dar-es-Salaam is the commercial capital of Tanzania and is a bustling port city with a busy international airport servicing domestic, regional,private and international flights. International flights depart from the new Terminal 3, Regional and domestic flights depart from Terminal 2, while private chartered flights now depart from Terminal 1. Terminal 3 and terminal 2 are within walking distance of each other (5 mins walk). Terminal 1 is located 1km from the two other terminals and a taxi or transfer will be required to connect from one to the others.

Dodoma airport

Dodoma Airport is a public airport serving this region, Tanzania.  Dodoma is the capital city of Tanzania, and serves as the central business district for the Dodoma Region. The airport is operated by the Tanzania Airports Authority. Dodoma Airport is located in the capital city of Tanzania, Dodoma. There are several ways to get to the airport, including by taxi, private car, or public transportation.


If you are taking a taxi, it is recommended to book one in advance through a reputable taxi company. This will ensure that you have a reliable driver and a fair price. Taxis can be found at various locations throughout the city, including at hotels and major transportation hubs. If you have access to a private car, you can easily drive to the airport by following the signs and directions. The airport is located approximately 5 kilometers from the city center and can be accessed via the Dodoma-Morogoro Road.


For those who prefer public transportation, there are several bus and minibus options available. These can be found at various locations throughout the city and are generally affordable. However, it is important to note that public transportation can be crowded and may not be the most comfortable option for those with a lot of luggage.Overall, getting to Dodoma Airport is relatively easy and straightforward. Kilimanjaro Airport

Kilimanjaro International Airport (KIA) whic is between Kilimanjaro region and Arusha city (IATA: JRO, ICAO: HTKJ) is an international airport located in Hai District, Kilimanjaro Region, Tanzania. The airport serves the cities of Arusha and Moshi. The airport handled 802,731 passengers in 2014 and mainly serves regional flights as well as a few long-haul services due to its importance as a leisure destination. It is the largest airport in northern Tanzania, by size and passenger volume.

Many international visitors also go to national parks in Tanzania, to the Indian Ocean coast, to islands such as Zanzibar, and to Lake Victoria, reflected in the routes of connecting flights. With a runway almost 12,000 feet long, the airport can handle aircraft as large as Boeing 747s and Antonov 124s.  The airport served 665,147 passengers in 2012, a 3.7 percent increase over 2011.  The airport served 802,731 passengers in 2014, of whom 45 percent were international, 38 percent domestic, and 17 percent transit.

Kilimanjaro Airport opened on 2 December 1971 and cost US$13 million to build. The construction was financed by a long-term loan from the Italian government.[6] In 1998, it became the first international airport in Africa to be privatised and is operated by the Kilimanjaro Airport Development Company. The airport facilitates the tourism industry for visitors travelling to four Regions: Arusha Region, Kilimanjaro Region, Mara Region and Manyara Region. These four regions are home to Mount Kilimanjaro National Park, Arusha National Park, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Serengeti National Park, and elsewhere. The airport bills itself as the “Gateway to Africa’s Wildlife Heritage.

Zanzibar Airport

Tanzania travel just got easier with the new Zanzibar Airport! Abeid Amani Karume International Airport, previously known as Kisauni Airport or Zanzibar International Airport, is Zanzibar’s main airport. The airport is located about 5km south of Zanzibar City – the vibrant capital of Tanzania’s beach paradise. The majority of international flights from East Africa, Europe and the Middle East arrive at this airport as their gateway to Tanzania.

With Zanzibar’s increasing popularity, the Tanzanian government has undertaken the task to refresh the old airport with a new, modern and much more functional international Terminal. This is fantastic news for travellers to Tanzania, opening up the paradise island of Zanzibar to more awesome adventures. The new airport facilities will increase the number of travellers able to efficiently pass through every day, as well as provide improved travel services.

As of December 2021, Terminal 1 is currently inactive, with Terminal 2 serving as the airport office and for domestic flights. Terminal 3 is quickly nearing completion. Once finished, the brand new airport will officially open to international travellers by the summer of 2022. Not only does the new airport deliver a fantastic and fresh welcome to the start of travellers’ journey’s to Tanzania, but will offer a range of useful new services for travelers.
